Scalar: Pages

Scalar  Pages

Pages are one of the major building blocks of Scalar.  If you can create and edit a page, you then know how to create and edit most items in Scalar.

Creating a page

Click the  Media icon icon in the toolbar at the top of your page OR go to the Content tab in the Dashboard and clicking the Add new page button at the bottom of the page

Adding text to a page

When adding text to a new page, be sure to fill in the title section.  This will appear at the top of the page.  The description section is optional, but can be useful in some layouts and to help you keep track of the content.

The body is a standard What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor.  It is recommended that you write out your text in another program and copy and paste it into Scalar, though typing directly into the box is fine for small bits of content.  When you cut and paste text, you will want to paste as plain text.  You can do this by:

  • On a Windows machine, by right clicking and selecting paste as plain text (Ctrl+Shift+V) OR
  • Use the buttons in Scalar From Left: Icon of clipboard with T indicating paste as plain text, icon of clipboard with W indicating paste from Microsoft Word (T for pasting as plain text, W for pasting from Microsoft Word)

Your changes will not be saved until you click on the save button at the bottom of the page.

For more information, see Adding Text Links to an external site. from the Scalar User Guide.

Adding Media to a Page

Media can appear on the page in two ways:

There are limited formatting options in Scalar, so it is recommended that any edits (including resizing if there is a particular size you need) are done prior to uploading.  For more information about formatting, including information on captions, please see the Adding Media and Annotations Links to an external site. page on the Scalar User Guide.

Adding links to a page

  • To add a link to a Scalar page, highlight the text you want to link and click Icon of Scalar link
  • To add a link to web content, highlight the text you want to link and click Icon for regular link
